New Online Adventure Launches Today for Members With Early Access

BOSTON – May 21, 2015 — Poptropica's daily installments of its Graphic Novel, Volume 1: 'Mystery of the Map' may have ended, but the adventure continues with the Early Access Launch this afternoon of 'Mystery of the Map Island.' Non-Members will have access to a limited demo of the Island before they can embark on the complete quest on June 11, 2015. 'Mystery of the Map' reveals the surprising story behind the origin of Poptropica, the beloved and popular virtual world.

On 'Mystery of the Map Island,' Poptropica players will join Oliver, Mya, and Jorge on a thrilling adventure that begins with an innocent hot air balloon ride and quickly turns into the thrills and danger behind the creation of Poptropica. Along the way, they will encounter a lost Viking settlement, an island unstuck in time, a magical map with power beyond understanding, and a devious plot that could unravel the very fabric of Poptropica.

'For the past few months, tens of thousands of kids around the world anxiously awaited each installment of the Poptropica Graphic Novel. Now their fun will continue as they interact with Oliver, Mya and Jorge and become immersed in the adventure on 'Mystery of the Map Island,' said Jess M. Brallier, publisher of Poptropica.

During Early Access, Poptropica Members will have access to a Dodo Bird and a Pig costume in the Poptropica Store. All players can download a free desktop wallpaper and an in-game item.

Illustrated by Kory Merritt and written by Max Brallier, the Poptropica Graphic Novel, Volume 1: 'Mystery of the Map' was adapted from a screenplay by Jeff Kinney, Poptropica creator and author of the bestselling 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' series. Merritt, a K-6 art teacher from Hammondsport, New York, is the winner of the 2007 John Locher Memorial Award for Cartooning; creator of the online children's book, 'Lost Side of Suburbia,' for GoComics and Funbrain.com; and co-creator of the Poptropica Comics for GoComics.
