Poptropica is an onlinerole-playing game, developed in 2007 by Pearson Education's Family Education Network, and targeted towards children aged 6 to 15. Poptropica was primarily the creation of Jeff Kinney, the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. As of 2015, he remains at the company as the Creative Director.[1]

In the game, players can go to different 'islands' (game quest scenarios), compete in multiplayer games, and communicate with each other. The islands all have various difficulties, but all center on a problem that the player must resolve by going through multiple obstacles or completing goals. All islands, upon finishing, award 'Poptropica credits' which are non-negotiable but may be used to buy costumes and special effects in the Poptropica store.

In 2011, Poptropica was listed on Time magazine's list of '50 Websites that Make the Web Great', where it was described as 'an inventive megasite for kids with a wholesome and slightly educational bent.'[2] In 2012, Poptropica had an Alexa Internet rating of 1,302 in the United States, and a ranking of 5,162 in the world.[3] By 2012, the game had grown to have over 500 million registered users, with 35 million in the 15-25 age group.[4] Versions of the game have been released on Nintendo DS and 3DS, and iOS mobile devices. In May 2015, it was announced that Family Education Network was sold by Pearson to the interactive-education venture capitalist Sandbox Networks,[5] and that Poptropica had 'over 3.2 million monthly unique users in 200 countries and territories.'[6]

In 2015, Poptropica was sold to educational-technology investment ground, Sandbox Partners.[7]

Gameplay

When it first launched in 2007, Poptropica only had one island, titled Early Poptropica Island. As of 2017, it has 58 islands to be explored, all with a different theme: examples include Back Lot Island, where the player helps produce a movie, and Super Power Island, where their goal is to defeat six super villains. Each island has its own quest, for which a player can receive an island medallion as well as 150 credits to spend in the in-game Poptropica Store. Starting July 6, 2011, Poptropica allowed players to replay islands without creating a new account, while still keeping track of all the Medallions the player had earned.

Advertisements

In addition to the available island quests, advertisers contract for temporary mini-games that appear on the site, sometimes targeted to players of a certain age group or gender. Regular advertisers have included Disney, Kellogg's Froot Loops, Lego toys, and various animated movies and DVD releases. Advertisement mini-games normally appear only during a two-week period. If the player completes an advertisement mini-game, they receive a temporary prize, usually related to the media being advertised.

PoptropicaMapas

A few Poptropica islands are themed after certain book series: these include Big Nate, Timmy Failure, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Magic Tree House. These islands are permanent, and can be played at any time. In 2015, a total of seven of these islands became members-only.

Mini-games

Poptropica features different mini-games that users can play with other people. These include Switch, Sudoku, Hoops, Sky Dive, Paint War, Star Link, Balloons, Soupwords and Pathwise. The game keeps track of how many times the player wins or loses a certain mini-game.

Expansions

Island Creator Kit

In August 2013, an island creator kit was made available for purchase. It is an activity book that walks the player through all the same steps the developers take when they make a new Island: coming up with a storyline, creating characters, and designing puzzles.

Poptropica Adventures

In 2012, in partnership with Ubisoft, Poptropica released a new video game for the Nintendo DS, titled Poptropica Adventures.[8]

Poptropica: Forgotten Islands

On September 5, 2013, Poptropica launched Poptropica: Forgotten Islands, an iOS game, which allows players to meet new characters and discover story elements about Poptropica by finding artifacts littered throughout the game. It was also released on the Nintendo 3DS system through Ubisoft in 2014.[9] It has been replaced on iOS with a mobile version of the desktop Poptropica game.

Poptropica Worlds

Poptropica O Misterio Do Mapa Y

On January 11, 2017, Poptropica announced via their blog that they were introducing another game called Poptropica Worlds, developed in Unity. It was released in Spring 2017. Poptropica Worlds has new features, such as redesigned characters, customizable homes, and new Islands. Returning players are able to port over their avatar's look and name to Poptropica Worlds. Poptropica Worlds can be played on both the web and mobile. If membership was bought for Poptropica, it carries over to Poptropica Worlds, and vice versa.

Here is yet another walkthrough for a Poptropica island for everyone! This island is called Mystery of the Map island and has us going on a magical adventure visiting a lost Viking settlement, an island that is stuck in time and using a magical map that is beyond understanding!

Poptropica Mystery of the Map Island Cheats

When you first enter the island, we are going to head just to our right and there will be a guy in a tree that wants us to help him get done. He will give us a map of the island we are on which will help us do just that!

Now open the map and we will need to travel to the “Camp” next! Once you get here, pick up the shovel that is sticking out of the ground. Getting the shovel is actually all we need to do here! So now we can pull the island map back up and head back to the jungle where the guy stuck in the tree was!

Once we get back here, run past the guy in the tree to the vikings ship. There will be a pile in the sand right in front of the ship. Pull your shovel out to dig something up! You will find a battle ax here.

Now head back to your left where the guy is stuck in the tree and go ahead and use the ax to chop down the tree!

Cheat or Hint: Don’t forget to pick up the rope that is dropped when the tree falls!

Now go talk to the guy that fell out of the tree and he will tell you that a few kids stole the other part of his map and he needs our help to get it back!

When he runs away, lets pull the map back up and head to the fortress. When you get here, head to your left. When you get to the pile of the garbage, some garbage will fall along with something we need to pick up! This will be a Goblet.

When you get the Goblet, go ahead and pull the map up and we will need to head over to the water fall. When you get to the water fall, go left and jump into the water. Once in the water, take out your Goblet and catch a fish with it!

Cheat or tip: Use your mouse to dive under water and then click on a fish to catch him!

After you have gotten the fish stuck into the Goblet, pull out your map again and head to the Dodos. When you get to this part of the island, head right until you get to the Dodo birds in the nest. Standing just to the left of them (just in front of the fish skeleton), pull out the Goblet with the fish in it and set it on the ground.

Cheats or Hint: When you do this, all of the Dodo birds will run after the fish as it flops away!

Now that the birds are gone, let’s go to the right and jump up the rocks to grab the lens in the highest nest!

Now we need to pull out the map again and this time head to the camp which is in the lower left hand corner. When you get here, head left where you will find a bag of gun powder which you should pick up.

Now pull up your map again and go back to the water fall. Once here, head left and use the rock platforms until you get to the top (Keep going until you get to a new section). When you get to the new section, go ahead and head left until you cannot go left any further where you will see some rocks that you cannot move!

Take out the gunpowder we found and then the rope which we will use for a fuse. Now take out the lens we found to light the rope on fire which is going to blow up all of the rocks!

Cheats or Tip: This is going to change the flow of the river!

Mystery of the Map Island – Helping the Kids Escape

Now take out your map and head to the fortress. When you get to the fortress you will see that the water will allow us to continue past that pile of garbage we found the Goblet in earlier. Continue left and get onto the grass on the other side of the water. You will see a log standing up. Pull out your ax again and chop this log down to form a bridge.

Use this bridge to get to the chute on the left side of the fortress to enter the actual fortress building.

Poptropica O Misterio Do Mapa De

Talk to the guy who thinks we are a servant or a waiter. He will tell us that we need to feed the people telling jokes at the large table to the right. To do this, pick up the tray just to the right of the man. Go to the guy with an orange beard first. He will be the first one you run into. Next head to the others. Once you have done this, head right into the next section with all of the pigs!

Here you will find all of the kids you were looking for as well as the man you are supposed to be helping. You will automatically hide to see how the whole situation plays out.

After a while, the man will run away (after he gets the rest of the map from the kids) and another man will come in and feed the pigs. Once he does this, run out to the left (into the next section) and above the fireplace grab the bucket of drippings.

Now run back from where you just came, stand behind the man feeding the pigs and then pull out the bucket of drippings. Now the pigs will trample out of the fence and run the guy off. When they do this, run over to the kids and pull out your ax to free them. For doing this, one of the kids will give you a candy bar.

Now we need to get our hands on some Viking cloths so that all of the kids can escape. To do this, head to your left into the next section. Once here, go to the man with an orange beard and click on the back of his chair where you will find “Furs”.

Now keep going left and head out of the building. In this next section, the leader of the Vikings will be sitting in his chair and saying that he knows someone has stolen his Goblet. Now head to the right into the next section and stop in front of the table with the tray and cups on it. Pull out the Goblet from your menu and place it on this tray. Now take this tray into the area in the left where the leader of the Vikings was talking to everyone!

Click on the first person you come to giving him one of the cups from your tray. Then click on the second, the third and the fourth.

Cheats or Tip: When you click on the fourth guy you will give him the Goblet and the leader will blame him!

After a bit the leader will throw is helmet to the ground. Pick it up and then head back to where you helped the kids escape from the cage. Give one of them the Furs you found and one of them the helmet you found! Now you will need to escape by walking out the front door!

Cheat or Hint: You need to walk slow and make sure to balance the kids on top of you! If you fall you will start over.

Poptropica O Misterio Do Mapas

Now you will appear to be caught and you need to escape the rest of the way! You will jump down the chute in front of you and now its time for a mini game! You will be riding a log and all you need to do is make sure to avoid all of the rocks in the water as well as the rocks being thrown from the vikings.

Once you have completed this min game, your log will fly off of the water fall and you will end up on the beach where the vikings ship is docked. You will find out now that the man you were helping earlier is trying to escape the island without you. All we need to do here now is pull out the candy bar we got a while back from the kids! This will make the Dodos chase off the man and now the kids are free to escape the island using the map that the man will drop!

That is it for Poptropica’s Mystery of the Map island walkthrough. You should now receive the medallion.

How did you like this island? Did you get through it ok? I really enjoyed it and cannot wait until the next island comes out! Until then, enjoy all of what Poptropica has to offer and thanks for reading my cheats walkthrough guide of Mystery of the Map Island.
